For more than 20 years Zender's owner Donna Zender has inspired excellence in the salon and spa business. By creating a relaxing space with high-quality products and services, Zender's Salon & Spa has become the premier destination in Eastern Iowa.
In the past three years Zender's has won a handful of prestigious awards. Zender's was named the best Aveda Holistic Spa among more than 250 Aveda™ spas nationwide. Zender's also has been featured in Elle Magazine as one of the spring and summers best hair color salons in the nation. It has been mentioned in DAYSPA magazine for the staff's unequaled ability to help educate its more than 6,000 clients. And finally, Zender's was named one of the nation's top 200 salons for four years running in Salon Today.
Donna Zender is a Keota, Iowa native who graduated from Cosmetology School in Iowa City in 1975 and has been in the hair salon business here ever since. In 1981 she bought Sky's The Limit Salon on Linn Street, which she operated until 1997. That year, Zender moved her business to Coralville and renamed it Zender's Spa & Salon. Four years later, in 2001, the business had become so successful, Zender expanded and relocated to downtown Iowa City, creating one of the most unique salon and spa experiences in the Midwest. In 2003, Donna Zender accepted the Pure Plant Growth Award for the business's financial strength in its first full year in a new location.
Today, Zender's offers a full suite of services including spa manicures and pedicures, hair and scalp treatment, body waxing, massage, body and facial treatments, hydrotherm, body wraps, and a new stone and steam therapies.
